The fonder of the Bosch Company was Robert Bosch. Bosch was born in Albeck, Germany, he was the eleventh in a family of twelve. His father put a large emphases on education.
Bosch attended Realschule, a secondary-technical school, from 1869 to 1876. He then got an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic. After his school and practical education, he spent another seven years working for diverse companies in Germany, the U.S., and the U.K..
In 1886 Bosch opened his own ‘Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering’ in Stuttgart.
In 1887 he made the first low-voltage magneto ignition device from Bosch for stationary
engines. In 1897, Bosch was the first to adapt such a magneto ignition device to a vehicle engine. The invention of the first commercially viable high-voltage spark plug as part of a magneto-based ignition system by Robert Bosch's engineer Gottlob Honold in 1902 made possible the development of the internal combustion engine. In rapid succession in the years following World War 1, Bosch launched innovations for the motor vehicle, including diesel fuel injection in 1927.
In1929 Bosch made their first TV set from their Fernseh AG Division, and in 1932 they made their first power drill.
In 1976 Bosch made their first oxygen sensors, and in 1978 Bosch made the first worldwide anti-lock braking system (ABS).
In 1979 Bosch made their first electronic engine management system (Motronic), and in 1986 Bosch put a traction control system (TCS) on the market.
The list goes on, and so you can see that the Bosch company has been making high quality items, and making improvements to all sorts of items.
